The Itinerant AnglerJon –
As far as I am aware it is. I think there was some talk about an exclusionary zone but Baja California is a huge place.

The Itinerant AnglerJustin –
There was some noise a while back about closing some of the Baja beaches to fishing, I think down by Cabo San Lucas, because (and I going on memory here) there was some disgruntlement about either licensing or the use of vehicles on the beaches. I can’t remember exactly, but I do remember some rumors about the rooster fishery being closed a few years ago.

Great pics, thanks for sharing man. Do you have any information that could shed some light on what I was trying to remember for Justin, above?
Thanks,

MemberZach,
The only other trip I have made down there was about four years ago. There was talk then about stopping ATV use on the beaches but it was still being done. This trip the word was ATV were fine and no talk of closures of any sort. I did see more of them on the beaches this year, compared to my previous trip.
Beach fishing though has never been closed on the East Cape.

I think most everyone has seen “Running Down the Man.” Have tactics changed since then? It seems to me that eventually the roosters would react to intensive beach fishing pressure and start avoiding the near surf. But there may not be enough anglers to do that.

MemberHi guys, we have been having an excellent season down here in southern Baja as Randy’s photos can attest. We really enjoyed having him and his fishing partner Ron, they hit it just right!
The beach pressure down here has been on a steady increase every year, and there are definitely times where fish get very spooky and non responsive to just about everything you throw at them. We continually hear talk about banning motorized vehicles on the beaches, so who knows what tomorrow will bring..?
We just had a group fish over the end of last week and the weekend and they found a few big ones as well. Here is a photo with Zach and his first rooster, on his first day fishing the beach!!
