I have been loking at Lowpro gearbags and packs but found that the Tamarac brand has a few more features and are cheaper …has anyone used or has any of the Tamarac Expedition series…I live in hicksville and we do not have any on the shelves here to look at …I thought that most here are into the same thing ie Flyfishing and Photography and would have some sort of system for lugging gear into remote areas.

    thanks in advance

    Al,

I typically backpack/flyfish remote areas and take along my Nikon D70s with assorted lenses…..probably 6 to 8 pounds worth of gear. I’ve purchased a few different packs for my gear (Tamrac, Lowepro Dryzone, etc.) and have settled on the ubiquitous Pelican Case. It ain’t sexy….but it gets the job done for sure. It’s been wet, dropped and sat on with no problemas. My tripod lashes to my backpack. (It’s on the left side of the pack seen below). Zach….this is the 3-pound carbon fiber tripod/ballhead combo we’ve spoken about. As you may be able to tell….I’m into lightweight backpacking and am constantly looking for ways to trim weight (see my Hydro Croc post in the Flyfishing Forum.)

Here’s a photo I’ve posted before…apologies to those that have seen it.
