Finally managed to get me, my camera, the tripod, and the fireworks in one spot at one time.  This was the first time i did more than take handheld snapshots of fireworks, and it was a riot.  Most of the shots were a 4 second exposure, around f10-f12.  Its kinda hit and miss, i found you need to take alot of pictures because you never know how high or how big the burst is going to be.  The kids had alot of fun trying to write there name and make shapes with the sparklers too.

(Zach, i put this here since it pertains more to photog. than flyfishing, but feel free to move it.)

Awesome shots, Eric. The one with the family on the dock adds a nice touch. I really the blue fireworks shot.

Do you remember what autofocus setting you used? I could see one of the predictive autofocus settings being useful for this type of shot. Just curious.

It was set to manual focus at infinity, with a 24-105 lens.

    Nice shots there Eric,

I like the people on the dock in the forground – gives a nice scale.

Fireworks are hard to shoot for sure.I try to avoid them at all costs.. 😀

A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.

This is great Eric. I really missed not being able to celebrate the 4th this year and the fireworks. I was explaining to some friends, over here, how we celebrate the 4th and about how wonderful all of the fireworks are, this made me miss the 4th even more. Thank you for sharing as I was able to experience it a bit through your photographs. The people pn the dock is a really cool composition.
