I’ve been wondering this for quite a while. Often I’ll see photos where the photographer is in the picture for which he/she is given credit. How does this work? Do the pictures belong to the owner of the camera, or does the photgrapher make an agreement with the person behind the camera when taking these pictures?

Obviously this isn’t an issue in a Barry and Cathy Beck or a Zach and Lauren Matthews photo, since we can assume the other is behind the camera.

Another possibility is that the camera was on a tripod with remote shutter release.

If I take a photo as an employee, the picture belongs to my employer. So if I was working as an assistant for a photographer, and I took a picture of the photographer, credit would go to the photographer. I hope that makes sense.
