Well after months researching every store and every website I finally bit the bullet and bought a new camera. I went with the canon XTI with the EF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 IS USM lens. The reason for that camera was the size, feel, ease of use, and excellent reviews it has gotten. The reason for that particular lens was because I needed something that would get me closer to wildlife that I could still afford without loosing quality along the way. When client tip money starts rolling in this spring I will be picking up a EF-S 17-85mm F4-5.6 IS USM lens so that I can get what I am missing from the zoom lens above.

I hope to have some time today to play around with the camera a little bit. I woke up this morning and went to the dpreview website and see that Olympus is coming out with an 18X optical zoom point and shoot and I find myself wondering if the purchase I made was a good one or not! :-/ Hopefully after messing around with the camera today any and all buyers remorse will disappear.

If any of you have any tips about this camera fire away! I would love to hear anything you have to offer.

I think you made the better choice in the xti over most, if not all point and shoots. You would probably like the 18x zoom, but if you buy good glass, the quality and flexiblity of the xti will be better. I bought my DSLR, the Canon 10D, over 2 years ago. Still serves my purpose well. When I outgrow it or it breaks, I will be looking for another DSLR and my lenses should still work. Now let us see some pictures.
