I’m a “Canon” guy, so I can’t give you my thoughts on the 80-200, although I do hear good things about it. As to your question regarding having one do it all lens, I don’t think that is possible. I have a 28-70, a 70-200, and a 100-400. I really like the 70-200, but if it is the only I have with me, I always seem to need one of the others. Now there are times, when I don’t want to carry all of them, then I just have to make the best of it, but I wouldn’t want to always be limited to just one of them all the time. They all have there place. It would kind of like playing golf with just a 5 iron. I suppose it would be possible, but it would be difficult and not much fun.
