I thought you guys might be interested in seeing a few photos from a fly tying auction I ran on NZ’s trademe to raise money for the Red Cross Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. The first auction has just finished, raising $250 for the appeal. Only 11 more to go (it’s a process, but it’ll be worth it in the end).

    The overall set

    Top left

    Bottom left

    Top right

    Bottom Right

    The tiers are as follows:

Top row, left panel: Clayton Nicholls, Jack Kos, Tony Entwistle
Second row, left panel: Jay Buchner, Bruce Staples, Shaun Wyatt
Third row, left panel: J.P. Dessaigne, Charlie Craven, Scott Sanchez
Bottom row, left panel: Peter Carty, Russell Anderson

Top row, right panel: Hans Weilenmann, Rene Vaz, Pat Swift
Bottom row, right panel: Clark Reid, Andrew Hearne, Peter Morse

Also included in this set was a Red Fox Squirrel nymph by Dave Whitlock

It was pretty amazing seeing all these flies in the flesh.

Seems like it – http://www.tepapa.govt.nz/ResearchAtTePapa/Research/NaturalEnvironment/InsectsSpidersAndSimilar/SpidersWeb/What/Pages/NurseryWeb.aspx The fly’s extremely effective too. All those rubber legs create a deviant amount of movement.

P.s. a hookless version is a pranksters dream.
