Congrats on the heirloom piece from dad, glad your dad is staying busy, through out my life I’ve watched people I know retire go home and sit down, bury them within 6 months.

Jarrod and I (ok, mostly Jarrod) have been working on one for me the last few weeks using Rock Maple. Can’t wait to get it completed.
I love working with Maple, how long is that tail feather up top.

That’s a Lady Amherst tail feather, and it measures 37″. I buy them at my local Hobby Lobby when they have their sales on fake flowers. I think I paid about $3 for that one, and $2.50 for the red and black one behind it. I like the natural Lady Amherst feathers for nymphs – they are a lighter/grayer tone than the normal pheasant tails. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these for sale at a local fly shop.
I’ve seen them once or twice and let’s just say buying on3 for 3 bucks is somehwere in the neighborhood of grand larceny on your behalf and I’ll be paying a much closer attention to Hobby Lobby from now on.

JohnThere is a load of work in that tying desk. It is amazing to see exactly how much wood it takes to build something like this desk. The finished product looks very good. Pat your Dad on the back for a job well done.
Magnificent! Now get him to build you a rod rack and storage for reels, etc. I’ve seen some nice ones pictures in catalogs.
