I like this pattern as it can emulate a crawfish or small baitfish, depending on how fished.
It is very simple, just two colors of bucktail, a touch of flash, a few hackle feathers and some eyes.
I’ve tied up some in all different sizes and I just love the color-combination.

Peter E.Memberto hell with trout! I’ll be tying that for bass!
thanks for sharing the pattern and glad to see that the bows appreciated them too. I will be tying a few of them myself. Two thumbs up ๐

Thanks. A river bass fly is what I originally thought of, so I tied a bunch in size 2. But, the pattern looked good and the bass haven’t quite heated up yet, so I tied some in size 6 for the trout.

Colin M.MemberDave, you pick carp up on those guys? I’ve been trying to expand my carping arsenal since last summer, and wasn’t sure if clousers had enough movement in slow water for carp.
BTW we still need to get the heck out and wet a line together one of these days.

Peter E.Memberthat size six is what I would use dfor bass as a matter of fact i used it today in an olive craw pattern and it was money. I thought you might like the feed back.
Thanks for sharing. You might be surprised in how small a bass will go in food offerings. I have caught many 3# bass on size 8 stealth bombers when bream fishing. It all depends on what the prevelent food source is in the area. Conventional anglers for bass have been saying for years to down size when possible for more and some times bigger fish. I can say they are right.

MemberI tied some up as well, but substituted red fox fur rather than the brown bucktail. I think it might provide some better movement on bottom to imitate a crawfish when the fly is not being stripped?
