Pheasant, dove, goose rabbit, squirrel and the fur of a yellow lab. Preferable a trout pattern using any combinations of these materials but not limited to just them. The idea is for a swap on another site using materials from any animals you shot or used to hunt with this season.

Rich,I don’t use any aliases so I’m easy to spot although UJ has another member with just one letter different in his screen name, that has caused us some confusion before. Some form of the sparrow was how I was leaning are you in the swap this year.
Neal, Using materials from what you hunted this season was a loose idea in the swap, I was just pushing it a bit to see where it might lead.
I have used dove feathers for Beadhead Pheasant Tail Nymphs. The fibers of the tail feathers are not long enough to cover the entire length of the hook shank, but I had no problem tying in more fibers near the bead for the shell back. I have not tested these flies, but I think they will catch a fish. I tied them for bluegill so my flies don’t need to be that exact.
We have had a particularly cold January here in North Texas with very few fishing days. I know it is nothing compared to people in the North, but it throws us all for a loop.
