I just spent the last week tying up some Mickey Finn streamers; a new experience for me. I have only tied simple nymph and wet fly patterns up to now.
I used the standard recipie and tying method: silver tinsel for the body and a wing composed of three layers — yellow bucktail, red bucktail, and yellow buckail.
Since I am new to the streamer, does anyone have practical or anecdotal advice, wisdom, or experience regarding the Mickey Finn? I have already read most of the little passages in the main fly tying books. What I’d like now is some “average angler” feedback.
