Mark SchaferMemberAll right guys I’m going to make one shameless pitch here. If your looking for a place that carries materials and tools from all major suppliers and a few odd balls, keeps track of your previous orders to make reorders easier and offers custom fly kits and tying instructions(this is cool ask about the details). Plus we have monthly specials, volume discounts and rewards points.
Contact me and I’ll give you all the details.

MemberHere are a few more names to add to the pot in addition to some good ones that have already been mentioned. I look for good selection, quick service, quality of materials, accuracy of order, items in stock, and reasonable shipping fees.
Mad River Outfitters
Front Range Anglers
Blue Ribbon Flies
Little River Outfitters

MemberI don’t know what you mean by wearing out the folks at Fish Hawk. They do have a good selection of tying materials and a wealth of knowledge. Besides, they are local. Their business has been slow because of the bad weather in Ga. Go ahead and wear them out.

MemberLook around, there are several places that have free shipping, or free shipping with a small minimum order. Also if they are out of state, you generally don’t have to pay taxes on your purchases. I don’t have any problem with supporting local business, but some of these shipping and handling charges are out of whack. The ones that really kill me are the ones that charge progressively more the larger your order. Dang, if I am buying a hundred dollars worth of stuff that cost them $2.50 to ship charing me $10-12 bucks is ridiculous IMO.

MemberI agree with you on shipping.

noneMemberFor us guys living overseas it’s even worse. The shipping & handling costs of many (not some) shops are next to ridiculous. Most of the time the order will fit in a small jiffy bag envelope.
So indeed: which on-line fly shop handles reasonable S&H costs?

MemberShipping is crazy.
