With each wrap of the marabou, you need to stroke the fibers back toward the end of the hook. Do not just wrap from one end of the shank to the other, but take the time and pull the fibers out with each wrap so they will not be tied down by following wraps. also, which end of the quill are you tying to the shank? I recommend tying in the top portion of the quill as the stem (or whatever it is correctly referred to) at the base of the marabou is very stiff and difficult to wrap around the shank.
