I have a vivid memory of being a small kid at the barber shop having the barber ask me how I wanted my hair cut. I told him I wanted a green mohawk. Flash forward 13 years, my dad was irate when I came home from college my freshman spring semester with a mohawk (not green though). Here I am another 9 years later, with hair too thin to have a mohawk, sitting behind a vise tying flies with green mohawks.

I was tying a bunch of flies for the SoCal surf the other day and pieced this together. I’m not sure if it’s an original pattern or a variant off another person’s design.
I tied this on a size 4 saltwater hook with I believe 5/32 barbel eyes. White 3/0 thread.
I tied in a belly made of a clump of strung fuzzy fiber.
After securing the belly, I pierce and thread a zonker strip down the hook shank to keep it straight and inline with the hook shank. Since this is tied clouser style, the hook rides up meaning it would sit to one side of the shank if I did not thread it. You can either tie in the zonker strip just before the bend, or apply glue/cement to the pierced point on the strip to secure it to the hook.
Wrap the thread forward to in front of the eyes and tie in, secure and trim the zonker strip.
Cover with glue/cement, and let dry.
Once dried, create a head out of EZ-Shape Body. This is basically a puff paint type material. I used the Pearl color, which dries somewhat opaque and has glitter, making it glisten like a strippers chest. ;D

So there it is, the surf punk. I’m calling it that until someone shows me the pattern already developed by someone else. It’s a pretty simple design, so I’d be surprised if it’s not floating around somewhere.

Back in junior high I had the job reading the morning announcements for a week, one of them was a call for all girls that wanted to work at the local hospital as “candy stripers” well you can guess how it came out I still have to really mull the words

That’d work a treat down here!!!

You can judge a man by the size of things which annoy him.
