I’ve been tying some Crease flies over the past few weeks, but have yet to connect with any of them.  Last week I found some mylar gift wrap at a craft store, so here are two flies with that material.  The first is a gray craft foam with mylar glued to it.  The second is a sparkle foam I found with the mylar.  Colors are by Sharpie – olive and chartreuse.  The tails are chartreuse bucktail with a bit of the darker tail fur mixed in and some “fire orange” Krystal Flash.  Hooks are a cheap Eagle Claw 1/0 I found at Wal Mart for $3/50.

And now the one that’s got the wife mad.  For those of you who don’t know, I have a Brittany named Filson.  First the dog:

    Then the fly:

    Here’s hoping he’s a fish catching dog…

    Abe,
We are completely on the same page. I was just staring at our new dog this morning, and my wife looks at me, then simply says, “NO!” I didn’t say a word, but she knew. I just gotta wait until my new girl gets some more body to her coat; hopefully, that way I will not get caught.

I’m with you guys on the dog hair. In my part of the world we’re just rolling from the cold seasons into the warm-hot seasons and my little black pug recently ended her small transformation from Zoe the black pug to Zoe the two tone pug, indicating to the world that she’s

Sweet ties. I’ve been curious about crease flies for a while as I’m looking for a good shad pattern for my home water. What’s your preferred method for fishing these guys? Thanks,

Crease flies are really durable if you tie them right.  Our tarpon and snook love them and it’s one of the most awesome strikes to see.  They take a little more effort to assemble than a standard popper but I think they’re much more realistic.  They can stand up to a lot of bites which makes the time spent at the vise worthwhile.  The fish below was caught on a similar mylar Crease last spring.

There sure is a lot of sex talk lately – sexy shad talk that is. Maybe the Sexy Shad will do / has done for the casters what Clouser did for the fly folks? shannon

We’ve had golden retrievers for 25 years and what they do best is shed.
