    Speaking of large flies…
Some of you might like to know if you are close to NW Arkansas.

Kelley is a very good friend of mine, and he is a very good fly fisher.
Not to mention his contribution so far as new fly patterns.
After the TU meet he will be with me here for a few days to fish. This coming year we will also shoot a DVD related to fly fishing still waters in MT, cannot wait for that, l love fishing large lakes.
Spent two weeks iwth him this past year, great fishing.

Spent a great afternoon and evening with Kelly Galloup at the Arkansas Chapter of Trout Unlimited meeting in Fayetteville on Saturday.

Kelly tied flies for 3 hours and demonstrated his Zoo Cougar, T&A articulated series, and a newer one called TipsUp (redacted for public posting) which is also an articulated pattern with a floating end section. In the evening he went through his explanation of big fish streamer tactics and a brief explanation of how he designs trout patterns.

If you want to learn more about aggressive streamer tactics for big fish, Kelly’s material is a good source.

    Scott,

Great to see you there, and l forgot to talk with you about Spey flies, another time.

Kelley and l fished hard with the big flies, and were not able to get a big fish to oblige, weather was wicked out there, cold windy and wet.

But we did nail numbers of Bows, and a 15ins Cutt that took a 4ins streamer.
Either way a fun time for us both. He plans to get back here later in the year.

    Davy.

I enjoyed seeing you and the conversation.

Yeah, we’ll talk Spey flies another time.

Glad you got to get him on the river for a couple of days. I was hoping to get out today, but winds here are gusting over 40 mph.
