Wow you sure have some colorful bugs in Manitoba!

    Hahaha.

For sure they are not very trouty but I would say the water is ‘warm’ for about 1-2 months of the year.

The ‘nymphs’ with the dumbell eyes are supposed to be large eyed/egg sac fry/

Haven’t tried these yet but they year is young. BUt they are too big to be midges so fry they stay as.

The Damsel above has so far proven to be a good stillwater trout fly but when soakeda and on active retrive it flipped because of those glass dumbell eyes.

So I do it now with the eyes under and a keel of lead as well.

    Nothing is flipping this over.

As well as the typical floating gomphus I tied the above in brown for a sinking version. Not a true gomphus w/o the hour glass shape but effective nonetheless
