When did Scientific Angler switch boxes on their line?

I see a box of what I need on Ebay for 1/2 price but the box doesn’t look familiar (photo is below).  I’m sure I’ll wear this line out learning to cast with it but I would hate to buy something that is 30 years old and useless before I even tie it on.

Also should I have posted this in the classified section?

It’s not that old… they switched boxes within the last year.

    2008/2009 was the packaging change.

    Valid question, Clay.

That’s also a good line for a beginner.

Clay, Tim has been the main designer of those lines for a number of years.  You can take what he says as gospel.  And no, feel free to ask questions like this here.  The Headstart is exactly what you need for your first line.  SA was really smart to make that line with their top (“Mastery”) coating chemistry (think Teflon), so people get used to what a good line is supposed to feel like.

    Hey Tim,
I heard Sharkskin is going away, any truth to that? Or at least that you can speak of…?
