My pair of Simms wading boots with a rubber sole perimeter (labeled Keen) and an inset felt section has shed it’s felt. I have tried to reglue it using Pliobond, but it released on my first wading.
Does anyone know what adhesive to use to reattach the felt? I can speculate as well as anyone, do you know what works from experience?
Thanks.
You will have to remove all the old glue residue, then reglue with Barge cement or one of the Goop type glues following the instructions for application and wait time before putting them together.
I fixed that with some kind of contact cement (DAP brand?). Clamped it between 2 boards with C-clamps. On the exact same type of Simms/Keen inset felt sole, I might add, twice, on different pairs. The repair hasn’t failed yet. The stuff I used was fairly thin; I applied 2 coats to the felt surface.
Gorilla Glue, its a polyurethane liquid glue available at most builder supply/hardware stores.
Clean off all the old felt with coarse sandpaper, mist the new felt just a very small amount with water and clamp it in place with duct tape.
I have tried just about everything but this stuff works.
whatever it gets on it stays on. I have some on my work clothes that has been there for years and it hasn’t even begun to wash off.
