July YNP Trip – a few pics to cool you off too

Here are a few photos from our family trip out West. No fish photos, since I fished mainly alone. Plus, we spent a lot of time sight-seeing things we missed last year.

Grizzly looking for the buffalo’s calf along the Lamar River. Grizzly actually false charged the buffalo once but the buffalo stood her ground.

Major animal stop in the park. Lots of dumb people walking along with the buffalo and trying to actually pet the buffalo as the buffalo walked next to their vehicles.

We climbed 3 miles to the top of Mount Washburn the highest point in YNP. Yellowstone Canyon straight ahead and Hayden Valley top riight corner.

Big horn sheep were on top of Mount Washburn.

Also, took a short video of big horn lambs playing in the snow on top of Mount Rushmore..

Actually it wasn’t that bad. I have seen a lot worse in YNP. We had a lot of hikes and exploring to do so we missed some of the crowds. The animal stops were not as bad as I expected for this July. In the early morning and evenings there was hardly delays. Lodging and campgrounds in the park were full, but we stayed outside the park about 20 minutes away in a cabin in the Gallatin National Forest.

I was glad we were not camping this time, because due to the high fire danger no campfires or even charcoal barbacues were allowed.
