Matt LewisMemberHi guys,
After stumbling upon this forum and reading back through almost all of the TRs, one thing stands out about this site. That is stellar photography. I am no where close as I only use a point and shoot, but at least we have fishing in common. 😉 I also may know some of you already from Mike Anderson’s forum, teh Suk, or other forums.I live in Huntsville, AL and work in genetics. I have been fly fishing for only 2 years and have only been here one. While I was in grad school, I lived part time between Auburn and Dauphin Island, AL. Not an experience most get to have. I worked on a human pathogenic bacterium that is prevalent in oysters. This is what I did when I wasn’t in the lab:

I know you guys like food!

However that was all before I discovered fly fishing. Since then I have developed favorites among those species typically targeted with a fly rod. I mainly pursue brown trout, brook trout, or smallmouth bass. However, I like to catch anything that swims on the fly.
I cut my teeth on trout by fishing some popular TN tailwaters.

Whenever I can, I fish the smokies like this:

In places like this:

For these:

Occasionally these things get to my hook before the brookies can…

Locally, here in North Alabama, I spend most my time on small creeks like this:

For these:

Every now and then, I go for the quick and easy fare…

Recently I stumbled upon another Alabama native that is often called “the brook trout of Alabama.” This is Micropterus coosae, or redeye bass. These little guys don’t get very big, but they have striking colors and are surprisingly scrappy for their size.

That’s it in a nutshell. I look forward to getting to know some of you and possibly improve my photography in the process. If any of you want to help a noob in the pursuit of brown trout or smallmouth, I am always ready to go! ;D If any of you find yourself in Huntsville, get up with me and I’ll take you fishing.
Cheers….

Nothing too fancy. Blue crab claws sauteed in white wine/butter sauce. Added some parsely and parmesan cheese after they were done.
