Well I am jumping headfirst off the deep end on May 5th and getting married. I am pretty sure that this topic has been covered before but i would appreciate any information on the topic again…belize bonefishing that is.

We are going to be in Ambergris Caye for 4 days and if I only have 1 day to fish, what guide service should i go with? I will have all of the necessary equipment except for flies.

    Thanks gents.

You fish at least four days.

    Touche.

Cant have the brand new Mrs. pissed that quickly. Come on now.

However, i do agree in principle with your rec!

Google “Go fish Belize”. Request Abby Marin. He can be a bit crabby, but he is a fishy dude and you will not regret it. I have fished with him several times and he is awesome. Might even have a shot at a permit. PM me with any questions or give me a call. Belize is sick!

    Ps. Congrats on getting married.

Be sure to take plenty of orange or olive bitters in #6 & #8. I went to Turneffe last summer and that was what we used 95% of the time we bonefished. Be prepared as you will see huge schools of fish thats can really make your knees weak and if the sun is out and weather cooperates, you will have a good shot at seeing some permit.

I would also recommend taking your bride diving or snorkeling. The barrier reef is absolutely incredible

THanks for the info guys. Adam, she is already getting to do whatever she wants for the other 8 days!!! come on! :DJust playin, we are definitely going to do some diving.

Do you think that there are relatively good odds for fish if only fishing 1 day?

Are you staying at Victoria House on Ambergris Caye?

By the way, if you haven’t read this article, it’s a good source of introductory-level information:

From my experience, your best odds will be bright sunny days and you should do fine with bonefisn, they are plentiful in the flats. If its overcast or raining which it can tend to do in the summer, you might be better off honeymooning than fishing. 😉

Thanks BD. We tried to stay at Victoria House but the cassita we wanted was booked so we are going to Matachica. I think it looks pretty nice as well.

Adam, I feel you on that. I hope we can get the scheduling right since I may not be able to forecast my perfect sunny day this far out.

    Thanks again guys

I am not sure how devoted you are to exclusively fly fishing.
