    Made a canoe trip yesterday out with Gary S. in search of some of spring run warmwater friends.

    I’m always a little skeptical when I make a long drive to find some serious stain to the water, but it wasn’t too bad and we rigged up and paddled to our first spot. Third cast I hooked into something nice, real nice. First stripe for me since last September. Been too long!

    After this fish I needed a breather. I told Gary that I was set for the day and could just drink a few brews and enjoy the weather.

    Gary cast out into the hole and he soon got into a nice one of his own!

    At this point, I was feeling pretty good about making the trip. Ended up getting into a few more, and a chunky little largemouth.

    Great day to be on the water and I got a feeling this is going to be a great spring!

    Great TR!  Love the fish and the IPA.  That set of shoals brings back some fond memories from when I lived in GA.  Keep those striper spots under your hat!

    We had a good early season trip. Mike gets a lot of credit for driving us out there ($3.75/gal, 250 miles round trip, Ford F150).

    I’m not too gear savvy, but I prefer a 10-15′ fast sinking tip with floating running line.

    Great Post. Not too often can you wear shorts for wet wading in March!

    This TR has me Jonesin’ for some striper waters up this way.

    This TR has me Jonesin’ for some striper waters up this way.  Usually they’re up in April, but this early Spring will have them shallow sooner I bet.  Those stripers can put some serious strain on the graphite.
    I can’t wait.

    Mike & Gary, looks like a heck of a trip. Catching multiple fish during the day is always a good time.

    I bet that rod really slings that outbound!
