Has anyone had a chance to fish, or cast with the Ambush Taper Flyline. I used a Wulff TT line for a 5 weight medium fast action rod. It was a excellent all around line, and especially good for roll casting.
This line has a two color setup, you know when the WF section is ending so you can shoot line effectively. This taper looks like it might be a excellent line for a fast action rods, or if you need a line that loads quickly. Before I buy one it would be nice to know if anyone has tried it out.

These line have a very heavy short head made for single hand spey techniques, I don’t think they should be considered for normal overhead casting.

Thanks! I found a short video on Youtube and thats exactly the way it was being used. It looks like a perfect line if getting a reasonable backcast might be a problem, or if you need to load the rod within 20-25 feet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROWYZPaiNd4

I had a proto about two years ago and didn’t know it was for spey casting so I tried to overhand it.
The line will load the rod no trouble with a 1o of 15 foot backcast and you can really send it. The line will go like hell but it never lands straight it just dies. I think when I was casting it the loop opened up too quickly because the head is so short. It feels like if you took a bass line and cut off the front taper. Like a club!
The only way to make it work overhand is to perhaps add a front end like maybe a poly leader.
If it’s for overhead that you want, this is not the line.

    David,
As an addendum, a normal TT line has a head length of thirty six to forty feet with the first thirty pretty close to AFTMA standard weight, they also make a TT nymph line with a twenty seven ft head which might be more up the alley of what you’re looking for, I haven’t tried one, but I have a six on order now for chucking weighted nymphs with the more compact head.

    Jon, you’ll love that line.
I used the TT Nymph line for years because it chucks the beadheads + lead + indicator on a roll cast , mends out to distance really well, and still can cast a dry near as delicate as the regular TT.

I got the line yesterday and went out and cast it in the snow, throws like a shooting head, plus I think I could loop on a section of fast sink and it would still be civilized. I am going to like this line for its designated purpose but I don’t think delicacy is going to be one of its strong points,
