Ok so I took the thread we had a while back and put all the tips from Tim together and did a how-to on cleaning fly-line.

    Why Dawn detergent?

I used to use my bathtub instead of a small bucket.

    Peter,

I liked your boat building photos a lot, and I could easily invest a significant amount of time reading about a boat builder’s project, looking at pictures, and/or watching a video.

But I can’t see myself watching 15 seconds of a video about cleaning a fly line, and it looks as if yours runs to almost 15 minutes.

Oh no big deal man. The video for this was just something I thought might be useful to put up for new folks getting into fly-fishing. I didn’t figure that there was going to be a big market for it. It was kind of like doing the tapered leaders. I have had a lot of students ask how to clean their fly line correctly so this was to help out.

I’m actually thinking about doing a video on just what all goes into the boat building. But that would be such a drawn out process adding a few pictures here and there just makes things easier for me.

Hey I do appreciate the heads up though.

You might consider renaming the title, One Way to Clean Your Fly-line.
You’re working way too hard at it man.
Strip the line out while walking around the house then it’s all layed out there nice and neat and ready for treatment. Walk the length of the line a time or two with a soapy wash cloth (I was told to avoid detegents by both Bruce Richards and Simon Gawesworth) then rinse the line

That is a pretty cool idea to use the magic eraser. I might have to try that out later on. Thanks for giving me the heads up.
