An old timer who knew I was a fly fisherman recently gave me a 4 piece  7.5 foot glass rod.  Lined it up with a WFF 5 and waved it around a little.  It felt heavy in my hand but it had a nice slow action.
It’s in mint condition.  The label reads – “Hurricane  Ultra-Fast.”  Does anyone know anything about this rod?  Most likely mass produced in Japan in the 80’s but perhaps it has cooler story.  Anyone know where I could find out more? Thanks – Kb

Go over to http://www.fiberglassflyrodders.com or Cameron might be able to help you out.

Glass is a cool period in fly rod development

KBilcher…it is likely older than the 1980’s and most 7’6″ fiberglass fly rods were a six weight or seven weight.

It’s ironic that it was described as an “ultra-fast,” but you now perceive it as having a nice slow action.

I really don’t have anything to add, but I figured Cam might like this……………

I saw it last week on a rig out at the lake.
