New Look for Site

Hey guys –

I am working on getting the whole site moved over to the new look; it is going to be more of a subtle change on the “white” pages on the site, although the Photoblog and the main opener got a more dramatic facelift.

You can see the changes on the opener page, on the Photoblog, and on the About page.

I’ve got a couple more things to tweak then I’ll be bringing that look here to the board.  If there’s a new software version available I’ll take the opportunity to upgrade us as well.

A lot of what you are seeing is actually what you are NOT seeing; HTML and CSS have both advanced quite a bit since I first designed the present site, and we can do a lot of things much more simply now, which should make the site faster and allow for stuff like more pictures.

This project is also what is holding up the podcast for the time being, but we’ll get back to it soon.

There we go!  Not too difficult this time.  I made the site slightly narrower to assist with reading on mobile devices (narrower means if you “pinch” in to read a post, it’ll the text will be bigger when you zoom in, assuming you can see both margins.)

If the layout is breaking in any way now, be sure to refresh your browser, and if it persists, let me know please.

Zach, tapatalk is the best thing for using forums on mobile devices

Zach, there is a lot of code snippets out there to help detect mobile browser’s user agents and then you can adjust the CSS, etc. accordingly.

BTW, I love the home page visual!
