    Hey guys –

Fall’s coming here and I know you all are going to be out fishing.

I feel like with this economy you get two factors: people actually do fish less, or they fish their local waters which they don’t consider to be “trip post worthy,” OR you get folks who just have enough stress going on in their life that they feel like hunkering down and consuming rather than creating content, even if it’s just a board post.

Fishing season starts on October 1st, so in just a couple of days I should have a fair few trip reports coming through in the next couple of weeks. The anticipation is palpable.

Spring Mississippi River flood. Followed by months and months of drought with no end in sight. 🙁 Creeks of central La. bone dry. Fishing license expired June 30 and haven’t bothered to renew. It’s been a lousy year, but hey, we maintain hope!

Texas Report – Drought. More drought. La Nina. More La Nina. One year going on two.
Red tide on the Texas Gulf Coast.
    Fish kills.
Blue-green algae on Lake Texoma. Rivers dry.

Delayed Harvest opened this past Saturday in NC….and the browns are getting ornery. I should have some post worthy photos (hopefully) in the next few weeks.

You’re killing us Jack.  Isn’t it spring season there for you?  Do the browns feed equally well all spring/summer?

    Zach

They typically feed more voraciously early season, but then summer brings about a lot more surface action. So reasonably consistent through spring and summer. Come March and April feeding slows down when the libido fires up.

I just realized rods were a mixture of bamboo and glass on the smaller streams. ::)

No hogs but managed to have a couple of fun days.

Nice report Simon. Good to see you and Chris were able to get away from Rugby World Cup long enough to hit the stream!
