I rarely get over into Western Montana, but a family reunion (not my side) in Sula, Montana found me with time on my hands, a crystal clear and lonely East Fork of the Bitterroot River.

Got to spend a lonely day and a half on the river away from crying babies and dozens of unknown but related strangers staying at the lodge.  Was extremely limited in what I was allowed to take with me because of other luggage and baby stuff.  But wet wading proved effective and the 4wgt was all that was needed to hammer dozens of Cutts in the 10-14” range from this crystal clear stream.  A box of foam hoppers were the only flies required.

I’d go back again, but without the relatives and two-year old.
