My passion is fishing for stripers in the river.

Very seasonal… and the first one of the year is always special.

After countless hours of work, with lots of these:

and a decent amount of soul searching……

    and gauge watching….

    and lure fixin’…

I finally put it together today…

    Spring bait run!!!! Love it.

    65 deg water.

    Zach – kind of.

With all the rains and full reservoirs, you have to get a little creative to find some warm water that’s not too stained with a good “bait” source for them.

That being said, I’d think this weekend would be a good time to give the old spey rod a shot. I’d think you could guess pretty easily what they are eating.

Gary – yep. Two trips, ten hours of driving, and only some white bass and perch to show for it. However, I’ll be back next year, I still have optimism for that place.

Fortunately, fishing gods decided to smile on me yesterday a little closer to home.

nice work mike! I was thinking about you the other day when i was staring at this yellow vessel on my porch that has yet to be fished out of. The Jet sled has been one electrical issue after another lately but we will have to hit the water soon
