With trout still laying low for the most part where I am , I thought this would be a good time to sharpen up my game with a sinking line approach. With a little practice, I’m getting the pick up and roll/water haul technique down pretty good with a few nice fish to show for it.
I’m going with a 7 wt rod, teeny 200 grain with about 4 to 5 ft of flat 2x with buggers and streamers tied off. To improve and refine, I’m wondering what kind of rigs and flies others use for trout?

Gary…I fish sink tips most of the time now. I love to dredge the bottom with big streamers. With that said….I like a heavier sink tip, preferably 400 grains or more. I had a guide tell me once…”if you are not getting hung up on the bottom every now and then….you’re not fishing deep enough.”

Like Steve, I use mainly sink tip lines (in moving river water that is; lakes and bass fishing is a totally different story).
