Guys and gals, can anyone ID this fly for me. I bought some in Idaho a few years ago – I THINK its an Umpqua pattern but can’t find it in their catalogue. 😉

    Thanks,

    Morsie

Looks good to me I just wish it was in black in red or white and chartruese. I will copy it ASAP.

Zach I hope you can manage to find the name of the fly so I can give credit where it is due.

A source for those little foam popper heads would be good too, if anyone knows. Then I could make my own, or something similar, then it would be on a half decent hook for bass and other things.

    Thanks, Morsie

Looks like a J’s Hopper Popper.

I think Zach is correct in it being a Solitude pattern.

After I posted that it was Solitude, that didn’t seem right, so I did some checking. It is a Rainy’s pattern:

It was new for 2010, so any Rainy’s dealer should be able to get you what you need.

I think that thing tied on a size eight and a 3 weight would equal all day fun in bream pond. I might even get crazy and use a sinking black ant under it as a southeren hopper dropper.

After that I would imagine I might feel a fish fry coming on. 😉

J’s Hopper Popper by Rainy’s – available in yellow, chartreuse, cinnamon (above), and black.

“J” is Rainy Riding’s son Jesse – he runs the Idaho warehouse for Rainy’s…and ties dynamite flies.
