Spent a couple of hours flinging flies at leopard sharks yesterday afternoon. I hooked three, one of the three was foul hooked, all three were broken off using 14lb fluoro. I really laid into them, I probably put a little to much pressure on the sharks.
Encountered another fly fisher on the water who had landed a small leopard earlier in the day. The sharks were pretty much putting on a show for us. Swimming and cruising just feet from us.
I managed to miss hooking my ear while casting, the fly hit me just above my ear on the hat. I continued to try and catch me a leopard shark. I was getting some serious distance on my cast, I watched a double haul video on YouTube before I left for the beach and was really trying to remember to double haul.
Here is the money shot….

That’s right! RIGHT IN THE CROTCH!
The clouser punctured my gortex waders all the way through, I’m going to need a patch. At least it was better that the puncture was my in waders than in my ear or some other body part. I could just image walking into the hospital to have a clouser minnow removed from… well I think you guys can imagine where.
