do any of you that guide use paypal for your a/r credit card payments? Thanks for any replies.
chris.
I use paypal buttons to collect deposits, sell gift certificates and a few other items.
I saw a glimpse of a commercial during the steelers game that had small businesses using their smart phones to accept CC. Not sure about the details, but it seemed like what they do at the Apple store with the hand held checkouts.
Chris are you going to start guiding a little?
“a little” no, alot yes. I am taking my captians classes this week and I will take the fff teacher cert in about a month. I left the bank about 40 days ago. I am going to buy a flats boat in the next 3 months or so and sell my alumacraft. Don’t worry, you will be grandfathered in.
chris.
I use Paypal and Google Checkout a lot. Google Checkout is used by those with out a Paypal account.
My bank stated they could set me up with a card reader (old fashioned paper with carbon copy kind) if I wanted. For now, I’m sticking with electronic payment methods.
The 3% fee hurts! I have only experienced it from selling stuff personally, no commercial goods. from a guide’s standpoint, I dont know what credit card companies are charging but
The credit card system set up through my bank would take 4% of the fee and then had monthly fees of $50 to $75 depending upon how many transactions. Paypal looks good.
Merchant services through a bank are expensive. That is why you see internet options popping up.
chris.
I know you will be great at it!
I hope to get back your way this summer, hopefully before that. I will let you know.
What make of boat are you looking into?
Probably an action craft for the first one. There are so many on the market that you can not pass up the deals. I love moxleys beavertail and I would really love one, but it would be hard to guide out of here. You need to be really flexible with the number of people and the ability to run the May River, Calibogue, and Port Royal with out killing your client.
Were you with me last year when it got really nasty on the way home?
chris.
Yes I was! I think the Alumacraft handled the 3 foot chop very nicely 😮
I know a guy that is about to sell a 16ft Hewes Redfisher, and he is on this board.
