Mike Lewis, who also recently joined this board, my father, my brother, and myself got out to the hooch for a beautiful fall float. Excellent weather, near solitude, and willing trout made for an outstanding day for everyone.

    A fall morning.

    Foliage.

    Fish.

We even invited some stockers to a stream side lunch during the dam release.

We hit some of the same water on Saturday morning.  Almost no one was out there thanks to deer hunting and football.

Lauren caught a few nice browns nymphing, while I ran the canoe for once (usually she’s the one having to do all the paddling).

Did not eat any, though.  That’s a pretty good idea.  BTW, I was impressed with some folks tailgating right by the river on Saturday.

    Zach,

Thats a nice brown there. I believe you passed us early in our float. Glad you had a good time as well. That is the first time I have harvested any trout in a long time, but it was pretty cool to eat them that fresh.

If you guys were float tubing, I think we did right around Bowman’s Island.

If you guys were float tubing, I think we did right around Bowman’s Island.  I’m sorry that I didn’t stop to talk with you guys; I kept thinking we would hit the crowds at some point and I was trying to make sure Lauren got into some fish before that happened.  Turns out it was incredibly empty out there.

Wow, small world huh? Our hike in was slightly more strenuous than expected and I was still trying to get my bearings when you floated by. Nice brown by the way.

My heart almost stopped when I head they were doing a dam release at 12:55pm on a Saturday! But we still managed to get in a solid 3 hours of fishing.

I plan on slipping out somewhere after the rain but before the release this afternoon, hoping for the rain to wake the trout up. Hopefully, I’ll have a story to tell.
