Went back to my old state of Pennsylvania to hit a small stream near my old place, Little Sandy creek. Lots of stocked fish downstream, but upstream not many people venture and the water is much better in my opinion. Hooked up with a few nice fish, and this little brookie was a pleasant surprise!

Old friend Dave Zielinski suggested i finally get out to Penns Creek. So, i did.  It was a little slow at first, tried swinging streamers but no takes. After switching to a prince with a size 20 beadhead caddis dropper the fishing was good!

nicest of all the browns that day:

then the rains forced me back to Ohio:

I had hit Spring creek in Bellefonte monday morning but after countless hits on woolly buggers, and a few chases, i had to leave out of frustration. I wasn’t able to hook up any fish! I will be back.

Thanks Bill. I had never gotten to fish it until just this weekend either. As Dave mentioned, it is indeed one of the nicest streams I’ve been to!

Dave, no problem. Did you get out for steelhead? We’ll get together soon

Eric, yes I am familiar with Mercer. I have drag raced at the old Sunset drag strip there, and when I was in high school we ran a few cross country meets at Mercer. I went to Slippery Rock H.S. but i grew up in mount chestnut (outside of Butler). Nice little stream!
