It’s been a busy summer with lots of work on the road and not enough fishing in between. Just finished a 5 day marathon with my cousin Matt in Yellowstone, on the Yellowstone and Big Hole rivers. Although we’ve have exceptionally (and unfortunately) extremely nice weather for the last week here in SW Montana, the fish didn’t disappoint. Hatches were slim because of bright cloudless skies, but the warm weather (60s-80s) kept the hoppers hopping.
We spent two un-crowded days in the Park on the Firehole and Madison. The usual stuff, but the Madison really gave up some nice fish that have run up from Hebgen.

Dawn on the Firehole

Matt’s hooked up in a Firehole riffle.

There’s good fish in that skinny water along Grasshopper bank on the Madison

Two of the many lake run fish we caught in the Madison.
