The Itinerant AnglerHey guys –
I will not be at the Fly Fishing Retailer Show this year due to my little sister getting married that weekend. However, I am still in the PR loop, so I thought I’d share a few products with you as I get word. I’m not going to make any effort to include every new product: there’s simply too much work there, so don’t think this is going to be comprehensive.
(I am going to pop down one more post so we have a white background for these nice product shots).

The Itinerant AnglerFly Rods
First off, Sage and Redington both have new logos:

noneMemberGood thing Sage reintroduced the XP series. What I don’t liked with their V-series was that the cosmetics were sub-standard. Not sure how the VXP really looks like from close in, but I hope it’s better than the previous V-series. The price is right at $500.
Tibor are nice reels, their price is ouch though…
The new glass rods from Scott looks great! Hope to cast one soon.

MemberSaw all the new Far Bank stuff today. Some pretty awesome stuff. Looked at the new Tibor a little bit too.
Zach,
The Sage logo is a fly. Redington also has a new logo as well. It is two mountain peaks divided by a river going down to a lake.-Mike

The Itinerant AnglerAhhhhh, I get it.
Aug 17, 2010 at 8:54 pm #44676Tim Pommer
MemberThe first and in my view most important was hiring Tim Pommer. Seriously; this counts as product news, because Tim is a really good angler who is going to make a difference for them by putting a lot of real-world fishing expertise in the driver’s seat of product design. With Bruce Richards’ retirement, SA needed to reload and this does that.
Zach
I paid him to say that.

MemberZach,
Not sure what fly Sage took the look from. It looks cool though.

MemberIm holding my breath for the 389 (V)LL in a 4 piece. The VPS Lights didn’t really have the softness or light weight of comparable size LL’s.

Cameron MortensonMemberZach…impressive gear so far but the SA ID might be the coolest idea yet.

Membergood to see lines getting cheaper….that flask is practically dripping with temptation…..i like it.
Aug 18, 2010 at 4:52 pm #44683
noneMemberYeah, the prices of lines have risen too radically.
Price around $30-45 for a good line is what we need.Aug 18, 2010 at 7:51 pm #44684
noneMemberThanks for the NRX shots Zach.
Um….. jeez the cosmetics are horrid…About the Scott F2:
Will they offer rods with cap & ring or even better two reel rings?Aug 18, 2010 at 8:29 pm #44685Michael Exl
MemberSage has added switch rods to the TCX series.

The Itinerant AnglerAccording to Scott, the “F2 825/4 and 774/3 get the uplocks, while everything else will be fitted with a single slide band.”

Tim AngeliMember$500.00 range?….i’m still not there!….
Too rich for my blood too, but I still think it’s a lot better than the $700-800 rods that are becoming the norm for many of the major companies. In my opinion, a top-end, performance rod from an American company in that price range is a very respectable offering in today’s market.
