    1. use as big of tippet as you can get away with
    2. side pressure, side pressure, side pressure
    3. change angles on the fish

    Try the “straight up” thing on tarpon and you surely won’t land any, but you may end up with plenty of broken tips and ferrules.

    Side pressure, and dont let em head downstream on you…Sometimes that cant be helped though. Cheers.

    I guess if “all the best fishermen” are the folks shown in varied catalogs he might be on to something. But for my money it’s SIDE PRESSURE ( I wish there was a way to insert Joe Humphries voice saying that) all the way.

    All the best fishermen who frequent that shop must not catch fish that weigh more than the weight of the fly line out the tip of the rod.
