We are headed up to the Vineyard for a http://jackopierce.com/ concert in a few weeks. The venue is a historic church and should be awesome. I hope to get a soundboard recording of the show.

I plan on working some fishing into the trip. This is my first time up there so I’m hoping some of you who have been there might have some advice.

I plan on fishing from the beaches with a 11′ switch rod, stripping basket, and the standard salty flies (eels, Clousers, deceivers, crabs). We’ll be camping in Edgartown in the new 14’x14′ tent the wife just purchased.

    Rob,

You’ll want to check out Coop’s (http://coopsbaitandtackle.com/) and Larry’s (http://www.larrystackle.com/) – Larry’s website has a locations page that outlines most of the well-known spots on the island.

Are you going to have a car on the island?

We’ll have a car but rely mostly on bikes and skate baords. Thanks for the links.

My fishing in the Vineyard has always been in late September and early October, so I’m not sure how useful my info. will be for your mid August trip.

The Edgartown Lighthouse is one of the 2 most popular and productive spots on the island to catch a false albacore or bonito on a fly (Menemsha/Lobsterville beach being the other).
