My conservation club host a 3 day traditional archery event each June and while I am there working my butt off for free, my kids play, run wild and fish our pond–
About 10 minutes before this picture was taken, my son had asked me to drive home and get his fly rod because he wanted to fly fish–
Needless to say, I didn’t get his fly rod because there are too many people running around for me to turn this wild man lose with a fly rod.
This girl was caught on a Eagle Claw #12 gold plated Aberdeen hook, a small split shot and a plastic bobber and a leaf worm—
Ian was not too sure if he wanted to get to close to this fish or not–He has never caught a fish this big.
No fish were harmed by the taking of this picture–she was released to fight another day–

My son is only 5 but he’s a pretty big kid. He’s about 46 inches tall. That fish was around 20 inches. He accidentally drug his worm through this girl’s nest I believe. She had already dropped her eggs and after I released her, she appeared to be guarding her nest after I let her go.
Ian was thrilled.
I have been busy with our remodel project and haven’t done much fishing this season–Ian has the distinction of catching the largest fish in our family this year so far.
