Went fishing with the dog today, pre-scouting for grouse in a remote area in the Appalachians.  A friend gave me some info on a beaver pond way in the way-back.  It was *such* a tangle; a real mess.  It was more of a beaver bog or fen than a pond.

    But it did contain brookies!

The flame azaleas were in full bloom.

    Found a beauty spot:

Some of those brookies were incredibly dark, I assume from the tannins.

I actually climbed a rickety old fire tower too; I’m working up some panoramas now that I will post later.  That was pretty freaky.

Great stuff, Zach! Makes me miss north Georgia. Would you be willing to share the metadata on the waterfall shot? I’m trying to learn the technique this summer. You don’t hump a tripod up into the mountains for these shots do you?

    Michael –

Usually I use a cheap carbon fiber tripod that was recommended here on the board, I think by Drifter.
