After a cold winter here in the Midwest, with less then great fishing, I have been looking forward to spring. I spent the day on my favorite water chasing steelhead. Could not have asked for a more beautiful day to do it. Almost 70 degrees, partly cloudy skies, a light breeze, and water above 40 degrees. Fishing was a little slow with only one grab before noon, but after that it was lights out. Fish were hammering flies on the swing. It’s been a while since I have seen fish this aggressive. I had one fresh fish just rip my hang down loop from my hand. He then made his way to a log jam after an impressive aerial display and was off, but the adrenaline was pumping. Here are some pics from today. What a way to get spring started.
