    Hi,

This is more of a reading than writing post, though I wish all of you would publish some good middle school fly fishing novels, grin.

By day, I’m a middle school librarian in a Maine school where every 8th grader learns to cast a fly rod in PE classes.  Beyond that, we have a solid outdoor tradition in Maine.  What we don’t have is a good list of books for kids.

    Here’s a start –

Fly Fishing (Edge Books series) by Ellen Hopkins, is a good elementary level book, and fine for middle school reluctant readers.  Edge Books has a saltwater fishing book, too.

Kat…a few suggestions would be Tyler Befus’s books on fly fishing and fly tying which are both excellent.  River Girls by Cecilia “Pudge” Kleinkauf is a good choice too.  Kirk Werner’s Olive the Woolly Bugger series is also worth a look.
