    looking for feedback…

I’d be interested to hear what Xterra owners think about their rides & how it suits the outdoor lifestyle… likes/dislikes after long term?

The wife & I drove a few this week. It seemed on paper to be the appropriate vehicle for two adults, a 7 yo & 2 dogs (plus bikes, yak, camper, fishing gear, kitchen sink…) I was impressed; appeases my need for a truck (off road ability) while accommodating the fam & gear for road trips. Thin on refinement..long on reliability?

    thanks for any feedback

I own an 02 Xterra and absolutely love it.

Rick, you have a 3.5 (VQ) engine, newer motors are 4.0 (ZV-7) runs like an 8 cyl.

    Both are great engines.

If anyone is interested, we strive for “0” tolerances, and dang near get them. I’m talking Zero Microns, and there are 25,400 microns to an inch.

When I went to work at Nissan, I was amazed that if the line is down for a shift, the unfinished motors are covered with plastic to keep “dust” out and this is in a plant the you can literally eat off

We love our ’01. Just the right size, gets abused, no troubles so far…

4Runner all the way….Can’t beat Toyota IMHO.

    I bought a new 4Runner in ’05.

How about the new feature in the Camery’s that allows it to run away and kill all of the occupants?

“Toyota Motor Corp. said Tuesday it will recall 3.8 million vehicles in the United States, the company’s largest-ever U.S. recall, to address problems with a removable floor mat that could cause accelerators to get stuck and lead to a crash.”

Being the owner of a 1984 FJ60 with a Chevy 350 V8, I ‘gotta ask – what does “runs like an 8 cyl.” mean? How many HP are we talking?

    Good feedback all, thank you.

As I mentioned, I’ve test driven a few recently. I was pleasantly surprised with the V6… under powered was not an issue.

Originally we committed to perusing Toyota & Nissan… but IMO the 4Runner (& Tacoma as well) do not offer $3000-4000 more in value over the Xterra. I’m searching for another 10 year vehicle and the Nissan seems to offer a solid no frills workhorse.

i don’t have one but two friends do and they can’t say enough good things about them.

both have taken them off road extensively and on cross country trips.

Well, the Pathfinder won’t see the 300.000 mile mark, I got hit and totaled this past Monday 🙁

    Looking at Pathfinder and Xterra’s
