This past weekend I fished the PM and Manistee with Troy Humphreys, a Cumberland guide: http://cumberlandtroutguide.com/ He said that he had been forced to cancel over forty trips recently, which I guess is why he was able to meet us in MI. He also guides on the Caney Fork R. I do not have any info. on the other rivers you mentioned, but it seems the Cumberland is down for a bit. But you might give Troy a call. He is one of the most knowledgeable guides I have ever met.

Zach, the South Holston has been fishing well and yes they still eat tiny CDC sulphurs, tiny BWOs, tiny midges, and tiny black flies. I would have a tough time making it a destination trip, TVA has been generating quiet a bit lately and there is still enough water in the lake to make me think that could continue for a while. You would probably get a wade friendly schedule on the weekend but I sure wouldn’t count on it during the week (started generating at 9:00 this morning and I think they are running till 7:00). Also remember that 2 portions of the river will be closed starting November 1 for the spawning season. That means less river and unfortunately can also mean more people looking for those suddenly much easier to find big browns.

Zach, Bull Shoals tailwater has fished very well from a boat since Columbus Day when the corps started making stable releases. Flows have been ranging from around 3,000 to 8,000 cfs, and the water is good down past Crooked Creek. Flow should continue to be quite reasonable well into November, but we are looking at heavy generation in December on Bull Shoals and Norfork tailwaters.

Tiny Blue-Winged Olives started coming off about two weeks ago on overcast and drizzly days. Nymphing and small streamer fishing has been excellent. Great flows and conditions for catching numbers. Bigger fish are hard right now due to the spawn, although we continue to see an occasional big fish when slowing down and fishing the depths.

I saw Mr. Matt Tucker on the water the other day, and it looked like they were making a good day of it too, although there was a lot of sittin’ around on the island at Stetson’s shoal.  ;D

A customer caught a four pound rainbow in front of Gaston’s restaurant a few weeks ago. It had run the gauntlet and managed to get caught and released by a fly fisher  ;).
