As many of you may know, we in Atlanta were hit with torrential rains two weeks ago that have left nine dead and many homeless. Areas of metro Atlanta were doused with 15-20″ of rain in a 24 hour period that overran the city’s storm sewer infrastructure.

The Chattahoochee which serves as the largest metro Atlanta drainage basin, quickly became the cause and effect of what engineers were calling a 500 year flood.

I will apologize for the amateur photo skills in advance.

After close to two weeks, the water and bacteria levels had resided and we were able to return to our nations southern most brown trout fishery.

We hit the water mid morning, streamers in hand, and while water clarity was not ideal, it may have worked to our advantage

We managed a handful of browns working downed structure and trees

they were suited up and ready for their fall festivities

The biggest fish of the day pushed 18

And one unusual fish that might have been the result of recent water levels being 10-15′ higher than normal

    Adam,
Nice to see another Marietta guy on here.
What people do not understand (unless they have been to that spot) from you first picture it that the river should be about 1/4 mile closer to the other side than where that picture was taken.

Holy heck… a river I’d love to fish if for no other reason than I’ve sang the song 7569 times and can now do it asleep, backwards and in pig latin…

You can judge a man by the size of things which annoy him.

Keith, if you look hard at the first picture, you can see the top of a yellow sign pulling into the park. kinda puts the depth into perspective.

    Neil,
I heard that canoe was toast! We new a couple that was supposed to get married there last weekend

    Clark,
The river is so much better than the song, trust me!
Come on over and we will fish it, and maybe we can get a few other local guys off the board like Zach, Neal, Adam, and maybe one or two I am leaving out to show you how wonderful it really is.

Clark . . . I will never be able to fish my backyard again without the vision of that video playing in my head.
