MemberAll these reports of great fishing trips, lots of fish caught and great pictures remind me it is great when it happens, but the flipside is, it isn’t always that way.
Especially today.
I committed to throwing big today. 10wt, steel leader, whistlers. Only threw for muskie today.
5 miles of water, 10,000 casts not a single eat. And it rained the whole time. My rain jacket sucks. And I never busted out the camera for a single picture.
I’m ok with it though. The fishing, company and river was good to me. Not one other car or boat out today. (smart fools) The catching part sucked.
When was the last time you were blanked?

John WilliamsMemberDave,
That pretty much sounds like my entire season.
Every time things seemed to be pointed toward a great trip something turned it into a day of paying dues.
But I guess that is why we keep going back.

Get used to it if you’re committed to chasing those big boys.

MemberAt least you didn’t leave a creek that was fishing well because “it was surely going to blow out and not fish the next day” only to get a phone call from a friend the next day that went something like “the water held out, nobody around, things are going great.”
We were supposed to stay for the weekend, but made the long drive home in the dark and rain because we were so confident that the t-storms would ruin things for the next day.
Sometimes it’s good to get reminded that you don’t know it all, but this one stung a little more than usual.
Keep chasing the toothies Dave!

MemberI am not alone!
Getting blanked makes you remember why you fish in the first place.

MemberQuote:I think you found the meaning of fishing Grasshopper!! 😉 If the fishing, the company and the river were good, the rest was just a bonus to a great day.I’ve been blanked on a few trips but I was always happy to be there.
Life is good!!

MemberWhen I swing for steelhead that is a common occurance. The hours and hours, if sometimes not days between a take. But when it all comes together and you get a player you forget all that time without success.

MemberTim,
Not me, but our friend Mark Stephenson is heading your way shortly.
Take plenty of pics.Mike E. Let me know when I can tag on an Ohio trip.
If I look back at the last 20 years of my fly fishing career, I appear to have fun in more concentrated doses these days. Grown up responsibility BS really screws with the fishing!
So I’ll still take blanked over not getting out!
if you guys get up this way, let me know.
