I recently returned from a backpacking trip based out of Frontier Ranch near Creede, CO.  We spent six nights on the trail and had great weather – highs in the 70’s and lows just below freezing.  Unfortunately, I was unable to take my fly gear but I hope to return next season to catch a few of th trout that rarely, if ever, see any anglers.

This big guy caught me eye during our hike on day 2

We had a great time on the trip, which will probably be my last one for a little while.  My wife and I are expecting our first in about 4 weeks  😮

Were you hiking out of Wilderness Ranch?  If so, I used to be a trail guide there for 3 years.  If you are ever back there make sure to bring your rod, I caught many a trout on my trips and cooked them up for the campers.  Very stupid fish, don’t forget some of the high lakes out there as well, they offer some real nice fishing opportunities.  I miss those summers out in the mountains, thanks for bringing back good memories.

Do you remember what trail you took?
Who were your guides if I can ask?  I still have a lot of friends that work there.

My mistake – we were at Wilderness ranch. We hiked Squaw and Little Squaw.
