Weather forecast last night said T-storms 80% chance starting around noon today. The alarm clock went off at 4:55, Jim picked me up at 5:20 and we departed upstate S.C.
Approaching N.C. pre-sunrise.

Jim didn’t get the memo about this being a fishing trip, he thought we were going to the Grand Ole Opry and dressed accordingly.

Unfortunately the rain started just as we were getting in the water around 7:00, which meant my camera was packed away. During breaks in the showers I took pictures of anything but fish since we weren’t catching them.

Jim practicing his bow-n-arrow cast on a small stream where we ended the day.

A few fish we caught, most were just observed then harassed. Jim took FOD(fish o’ the day) honors with an epic bow that came to hand during a break in the rain when I had the camera out. I was gonna get my tape out, but Jim just guestimated it at 3″ and released.

Jim said something on the way to the river this morning about cowboy hats being bad luck for fishing, which I quickly dismissed as fiction. Turned out the fishing was some of the worst I’ve experienced in several years. Sometimes though, standing in a beautiful stream on a dreary day with a slow steady drizzle falling is just as refreshing as catching. The day couldn’t have been better even though the fishing could have.
